New Students

If you wish to enroll as a new student in a degree program at Cayuga, either full-time or part-time, you will need to apply for admission.

Enrolling in a degree program is called matriculation. Matriculation is required for financial aid eligibility. In other words, you must be enrolled in a degree program to be eligible for financial aid.

* Please note: if you are looking to take English 101 or Math 102 you need to apply for admission even though you are not looking to seek a degree at Cayuga or obtain financial aid.

Enrollment Checklist

To apply for admission as a new student seeking a degree, follow these steps:

Application: Complete and submit the Application for Admission OR apply at the Admissions Office at the Auburn or Fulton Campus. You can download our Application Form. Completed applications may be returned to the Admissions Office at:

Transcripts: Have your official high school transcript(s) and/or original GED score report sent to the Admissions Office at the campus address where you will be attending.We must have official copies in order to complete your application.For transfer students, college transcripts must arrive at the Admissions Office in the original sealed envelope (use the address for the campus you will be attending).

Financial Aid: You can apply for financial aid before you are actually a registered student.To determine if you are eligible for any federal aid, you may complete the FAFSA form. To apply for New York State aid, use the “New York TAP” link on the FAFSA website. If you have questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office. Please note: If you receive financial aid, you will need to sign and return the second page of your tuition bill to the Business Office.

Scholarships: Scholarships are available through the Cayuga Community College Foundation; see specifics on application criteria and deadlines.

Veterans’ Benefits: Please review the process for using your Veteran’s Benefits to enroll in Cayuga.

Tuition Payment: Tuition payment for the fall semester is due the last week in July. Tuition payment for the spring semester is due the first week in January. A tuition payment plan is available; you may enroll in the plan via your myCayuga online student account. If you have questions about your tuition bill, contact the Cayuga Community College Business Office. The College has the right to cancel your class registration if payment or arrangements have not been made by the due date. In this case, you may be able to re-register for classes as available, once payment arrangements have been made.

Placement Testing: Upon receipt of your application and transcripts, it will be determined if you must take Cayuga’s placement test prior to registering for an English or Math course. If you have earned college credit in English or Math and believe the courses will satisfy the need to take the placement test, please have the transcripts forwarded as soon as possible.

Students who have not previously earned college credit in English or Math, are highly encouraged to take the placement test prior to beginning their coursework at Cayuga. The placement test provides the information necessary to assure students are placed in the appropriate level college English and Math.

Immunizations: New York State Public Health Law requires all college students born after 1956, and taking 6 credit hours or more during a semester, to provide proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella. Also, all students registering for 6 or more credits must complete and return a meningitis response form. There is a 30-day grace period to comply. You will be restricted from class attendance 30 days after classes begin unless you comply by that date. If registered through the Admissions Office as a new student, you will be given a packet with the appropriate paperwork.

Advisement/Registration for Classes: After placement testing (if applicable) all accepted students may register for classes. There are two ways to do so:   1) meet with an Admissions counselor for advisement, course selection and registration or   2) you may register online using the self-registration process. We strongly encourage you register early for optimal course and time selection!

Certificate of Residence: If you reside in New York State but outside Cayuga County: To qualify for New York state resident tuition, you must apply to your County for a Certificate of Residence to be sent to the Cayuga Community College Business Office. This is required each academic year you are enrolled. The Certificate of Residence must be dated no earlier than 60 days before the first day of classes. The Business Office must receive the Certificate of Residence by the due date on your tuition bill, or tuition charges will be double.

myCayuga Student Account: After you are admitted to the college, via mail you will receive a myCayuga student account ID and Password. Your myCayuga account enables you to review the College’s course schedule, register for courses, pay your tuition bills, accept your financial aid and view/print your course schedule. You log into your myCayuga account directly from the College website. If you have any questions regarding your myCayuga account, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

Online Students: After registering for online courses, you will be mailed your username and password about 10 days before the first day of your classes. You need this information to access your online courses. If you register after the start of classes, the letter will be mailed the next business day. You may log in as soon as you get the letter, but the course will not appear on your login page until one week before the first day of that course. Note: Courses that start later in the semester (summer II five-week, and spring and fall mid-semester classes) will appear one week before their start dates. Special Accommodations: If you are an individual with a disability and would like to discuss options for accommodations, please contact the Office of Accessibility Resources at (315) 255-1743, extension 2333 in Auburn or (315) 592-4143 in Fulton.

Student ID: A photo ID card is free of charge for full-time Cayuga students. The replacement fee for a lost card is $5. ID cards are for general identification and may be used in the library, business office, financial aid, bookstore, recreation room and fitness center, and for discounts at various stores off campus. IDs may be obtained during new student Orientation or at the beginning of each semester at the Campus Safety Office.

Books: Textbooks may be ordered online from the College Bookstore with Visa or MasterCard. The regular hours for both the Auburn and Fulton campus bookstores are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.
