An information-packed Job Readiness and Education Fair at Cayuga Community College will cover an array of job-seeking angles from day-care planning to midlife career change.
The free event will be held Wednesday, April 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the main building's student lounge. The job fair is open to college students, first-time job seekers, working adults, and any others who want to know about tactics and resources for landing a new or better job.
Participants can attend workshops, tour information booths, and find out about other job fairs in the area. Professionals will also be on hand to critique resum's and videotape mock job interviews.
Booths will feature area organizations that offer training, education, and job search services. Workshops will include search strategies, economic trends, career transition planning, day care and transportation options, occupational training, and educational opportunities. Other workshops will cover preparation of an effective resum?, conveying a professional image, successful interviewing, and the workplace culture.
The event is sponsored by Cayuga/Onondaga County BOCES, the Auburn/Cayuga Community College Alumni Association, Cayuga's Office of Career Services, the Bridge-to-Work Program, the Perkins Vocational Education Act, Empire State College, the New York State Department of Labor, and Wells College.
