Attention All Muggles: College Will Reveal Harry Potter Magic

Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin; the Sorting Hat, the Whomping Willow, and Nearly Headless Nick . . . What can a mere Muggle tell us about the wisdom and wizardry of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter kidlit series?

Plenty, if that Muggle (or human, as non-magical mortals call themselves) is Liz Rosenberg, Ph.D.?poet, author, and professor of creative writing and children's literature at the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Rosenberg will speak on “What Makes Harry Potter Great?”?revealing some of the sorcery that thrills Harry Potter readers of all ages?as the Noreen and Michael J. Falcone Lecturer at Cayuga Community College on Tuesday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the college theatre. A book signing will follow the, featuring Rosenberg's titles Children of Paradise, Light Gathering Poems, These Happy Eyes, and 17.

Rosenberg holds a bachelor's degree from Bennington College, a master of arts from Johns Hopkins University, and a doctorate in comparative literature from the State University of New York at Binghamton. The event, presented by the Cayuga County Community College Foundation, is free and open to the public.
