Cayuga Student Wins SUNY Award for Student-Athletes

Cayuga Community College student Holly Younglove of Savannah is one of 57 recipients of the 2004 Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award, saluting excellence in collegiate sports across the State University of New York system. SUNY Chancellor Robert L. King today recognized the winners of the award at a ceremony at State University Plaza in Albany.

The Scholar-Athlete award, sponsored by USA TODAY

, recognizes a combination of academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the NCJAA and Division I and III levels. Younglove, who graduates this May, has represented Cayuga on the women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams while working toward her associate in arts degree in Liberal Arts / Humanities and Social Science.

“The Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award embodies the concept of hard work, dedication and success,” said King. “We are extremely proud of these students? accomplishments and for serving as role models for their fellow student-athletes, as well as the many children across New York who look up to them.”

Winners of the award competed in 27 different sports at 26 SUNY campuses, and earned a collective grade point average of 3.6.
