Harp and Flute Recital to Feature Compositions by Cayuga Professor

DATE: 05-11-2006

A free recital of harp and flute music will be performed on Saturday, June 3, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 97 East Genesee Street, Skaneateles. Two of the program selections, one recalling a Renaissance style and the other an update of a British Isles folk melody, were composed by Cayuga Community College music professor Janet Correll. Harpists from Auburn, Aurora, Cazenovia, Rochester, and Skaneateles will include the mother-son duo of Deb Geer, playing harp and flute, and harpist Greg Skipton, a student at Rochester's Eastman School of Music.

Also performing will be harpists Jane Jung, Victoria Kinney, Lauren Meyer, Ellie Meyer, and Nancy Prosser. The event is sponsored by the Victoria Kinney Harp Studio of Auburn, whose namesake studied at St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, is a former principal harpist of that country's Omsk Symphony Orchestra, and now directs the Auburn Public High School Orchestra.
