The student newspaper of Cayuga Community College, the Collegian
, has received the highest award in the American Scholastic Press Association 2005?6 Newspaper Review/Contest. During the past year, the Collegian
introduced the use of color, increased in size from a maximum of eight pages to twelve, and expanded its content to include national and world affairs, arts, entertainment and sports. The newspaper was edited during 2005?6 by Cayuga student Josh Cradduck of Olean, who will transfer to Ithaca College this fall. Mary Gelling Merritt, a lecturer in telecommunications, serves as faculty adviser. Contest entrants were judged on factors including content coverage, layout, graphics, and editing. The Collegian
received a second-place award in the same competition in 1996.
