Cayuga Student Documentary Wins Two Awards

DATE: 05-21-2007

A student video project for Professor Steve Keeler's Documentary Production class has earned two impressive awards. The production, titled "A Tale of Two Lakes", traces the very different histories of two lakes in Central New York. One, Onondaga Lake, is among the most polluted in the nation; and the other, Skaneateles Lake, is among the cleanest. The student producers, all of whom have graduated, were Peter Cramer, Laura Harmon, Caleb Kerlin, Lindsey Needell, Brian O'Hare, and Eric Smith. Their project was supported in part by a Labeille grant from the Cayuga Community College Foundation. A Tale of Two Lakes won:

  • A 2007 Bronze from the Telly Awards, a film and video competition in which past winners judge the entries.
  • A 2006 Honorable Mention in Videography from the Accolade Awards, an independent international competition recognizing videographers for exceptional achievement in craft and creativity. Its goal is to discover and honor those who produce standout productions and contribute to social change and humanitarian efforts.
