Judith G. Miladin, director of financial aid for Cayuga Community College, has received the Sister Bernadine Hayes and Rusty Hopkins Service Award from the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association. The annual award recognizes a member of NYSFAAA who has provided continuing and outstanding service at the regional and statewide levels.
A volunteer association of financial aid professionals promoting equal access to post-secondary education for all students, NYSFAAA provides members with education, professional development and networking opportunities. Its approximately 1,400 members represent most of the colleges and universities in New York State.
Miladin, who has served for two years as NYSFAAA president and for a year as past president, is currently statewide chair of the organization's Governance Committee. She has been a regional representative to the Executive Council and taught for six years at the week-long NYSFAAA Novice Training Workshop, serving 100 or more new financial aid professionals each year. Miladin has also served as the NYSFAAA representative to the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, a 14-state organization.
Miladin joined Cayuga Community College in 1990 and has overseen its financial aid office for 13 years. During the 2007-8 academic year, some 2,600 Cayuga students will receive a projected $14 million in financial aid, in the form of grants, loans and scholarships.
