Two graduates of Cayuga Community College, one recent and one celebrating his 50th graduation anniversary, have been honored by the college's Alumni Association. The 2009 Alumni Awards went to Adeline Bovee, RN, and William Lovell, both of Auburn.
Bovee is a 2003 graduate of the college's nursing program. In 2007 she joined the Finger Lakes Center for Living, a skilled nursing facility of Auburn Memorial Hospital, as nurse manager for a 40-bed unit. In 2008 she was appointed director of nursing for the entire 80-bed residence, where she has earned distinction for integrating quality of care with staff development and family involvement.
Lovell earned a business degree in 1959 from the college and went on to complete a bachelor's degree at Binghamton University and a master's degree at Syracuse University. He became an adjunct instructor at Cayuga in 1963 and received a full-time appointment to the business faculty in 1968. A key participant in developing the college's Fulton campus, Lovell has chaired the Division of College Studies there since 2003, overseeing all academic departments while continuing his teaching career as a business professor.
Established in 1993, Alumni Awards are presented annually to Cayuga graduates who have made outstanding contributions in vocational or artistic achievement, volunteer or public service, or assistance to the college.
