Future college students can get free professional help with financial aid information, planning and application forms on Saturday morning, January 30, 2010, at the Auburn campus of Cayuga Community College. From 9:00 a.m. until noon, college staff will be on hand at the Financial Aid Open House to explain what resources are available, how to apply and how to maintain eligibility. Attendees will need to come prepared. Parents and students should bring tax records for the previous year, latest W-2 and 1040 forms and other income records, and information on any veterans' benefits, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families or Social Security income. Also needed are current bank, business and investment statements, proof of citizenship, Social Security number and driver's license if any. To save time, students should apply in advance for a Personal Identification Number from the federal financial aid system at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents of minor students will also need a PIN. Interested students can register to attend at www.cayuga-cc.edu/financial_aid or call Cayuga's Financial Aid office at 315-255-1743, extension 2470.
