Cayuga Community College has renewed its education partnership agreement with Excelsior College, with a new emphasis on Cayuga students interested in transferring to bachelor's level programs in business and technology at Excelsior College.
The agreement ensures streamlined transfer credit procedures and reduced tuition for Cayuga students seeking transfer to Excelsior. Students at the Fulton and Auburn campuses will be able to continue their undergraduate education and enhance their career opportunities while remaining in their home communities.
"The University Center at Cayuga is committed to providing employable degrees for working adults who prefer to study close to their families and their jobs," said Michael Greene, coordinator of baccalaureate programs at Cayuga's University Center. "This agreement with Excelsior allows students to take the majority of their upper division courses at either of the Cayuga campuses, or through our online program of study. They can start here, stay here, and succeed here."
The renewed agreement creates an academic bridge between several Cayuga associate level programs and designated Excelsior degree programs in business and technology. In particular, Cayuga students pursuing the AAS in Computer Information Systems can seek transfer to Excelsior's BS in Information Technology program. Cayuga students pursuing the AS in Business Administration can transfer to Excelsior's BS degree programs in Accounting, Business, or Management Information Systems degree programs. In addition, graduates can take another year of credits at Cayuga and apply them toward a bachelor's degree program at Excelsior.
"We are pleased to renew and refocus our agreement with Cayuga Community College," said Excelsior Provost Mary Beth Hanner. "Excelsior's mission involves removing obstacles that may prevent working adults from continuing their education, and this is an opportunity for students to combine online learning with independent study and examinations to achieve their goals."
Excelsior has had an articulation agreement with Cayuga Community College since 1990. It is one of Cayuga's three partners in higher education who offer advanced degrees to students on the College campuses and online through their University Center.
"Partnerships, such as the one we have with Excelsior, enable Cayuga to offer our students the full range of academic opportunities to advance themselves in their careers and their lives," said Cayuga Community College President Daniel P. Larson. "Students can complete their associate's degree and stay here to work on their bachelor's degree through our University Center and our partnership Excelsior."
Students will benefit from this arrangement in several ways, including:
Taking most of their courses at Cayuga in familiar surroundings, or online using a familiar technology platform. Paying a reduced community college partner tuition and fee prices ($280 per credit). Being eligible to apply for federal financial aid and both Cayuga and Excelsior scholarships and payment plans.Receiving dual academic advisement services from both Cayuga and Excelsior College staff members.
