Cayuga Community College welcomes James H. Forsythe of Auburn to the position of enterprise systems integrator. He previously served as web systems administrator for Practice Resources, LLC in Syracuse.
In his new role, Forsythe will call upon his eight years of experience in such areas as Oracle PL/SQL, HTML, Java, and other programming languages to help bring together the multiple information systems used at the College into a single sign-on system. This will allow campus members to access any of the College’s resources using one set of login credentials. He will also work to fulfill the College’s needs in Banner, a robust computer information system that contains data on students and employees that is accessible through the web.
“I have lived in the Auburn area all my life,” Forsythe said. “This job description caught my eye because the requirements matched up with my professional skills and experiences.”
Previously in his career, Forsythe has created portal systems that unite more than 1,000 end users, and has integrated functionality into the SharePoint system, Active Directory, and web applications. He said that creating strong integrated systems saves time and money by smoothening workflow and efficiency in all areas of College operations.
He earned an associate’s degree in computer science from Cayuga Community College in 2005 and a bachelor’s in management of information systems from LeMoyne College in 2008. He is a SUN Certified Java SE/EE Programmer/Developer.
Since 2004, he has run his own web design/solutions business that he started while attending Le Moyne. He and his family also volunteer with the March of Dimes and St. Baldrick’s Foundation charities.
