Cayuga Community College staff members will host a free information session on financial aid planning and application for future college students or parents of future college students. The Financial Aid Open House will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2 on the Auburn Campus, 197 Franklin St., Auburn; and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, on the Fulton Campus, 11 River Glen Drive, Fulton.
College staff members will explain what resources are available, how to apply, and how to maintain eligibility for financial aid.
Attendees may want to come prepared. If possible, parents and students should bring tax records for the previous year, latest W-2 and 1040 forms and other income records, such as non-education veterans’ benefits, child support (paid or received), payments to tax-deferred pension plans, workers compensation, or disability benefits and housing allowances. Current bank, business, and investment statements as well as a Social Security number and driver's license are also helpful to have on hand.
To save time, students should apply in advance for a Personal Identification Number from the federal financial aid system at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents of minor students will also need a PIN.
