Poet Joe Weil to Read at Cayuga CC Former poetry slam champion Joe Weil will give a free public reading of his work in the Student Lounge on the Auburn campus of Cayuga Community College on Monday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m. A native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Weil is known as a working man's poet whose writing is passionate, accessible, and funny. He has won the poetry slam championship at the Nuyorican Caf? in New York City, and he now teaches creative writing at Binghamton University.

Weil's books are In Praise We Enter and The Pursuit of Happiness. Critic Sander Zulauf has praised “his charisma, his?largely unrecognized genius.” Weil's visit to Cayuga is sponsored by the Humanities Division, and is funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
