As part of her statewide tour of the State University of New York campuses, SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher visited Cayuga Community College on Thursday, August 20, 2009. Following her appearance at the dedication of the Stardust Entrepreneurial Institute in downtown Auburn, Zimpher met with senior administrators at the Cayuga campus. In a discussion with college president Daniel Larson, vice presidents and deans, the Chancellor focused on the opportunities and challenges facing Cayuga Community College within the SUNY system of public higher education.
"It was a pleasure to welcome Chancellor Zimpher to Auburn for the ribbon-cutting of the Stardust Entrepreneurial Institute, a college-community partnership," said Larson. "This set a theme which we continued with her visit to the Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology here on the campus. Our group then discussed additional ways to involve Cayuga students in the community through internships and experience-based projects. We look forward to future opportunities to engage the Chancellor in our plans and programs."
Chancellor Zimpher, who took office June 1, is nearing the end of her summer-long tour of the SUNY system. She is visiting each of the 64 SUNY colleges and universities to discuss her plans to integrate each campus into an overall strategic vision.
