COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prerequisite: MATH 104 and higher, or MATH 102 with a minimum final grade of C+. Topics range from data collection, descriptive statistics and linear regression models to inferential statistics. Includes probability, counting principles, and binomial probability distribution. Normal probability distribution and student’s t-distribution are discussed in single and two-populations applications. Statistical inference (confidence intervals and hypothesis testing) in sociology, psychology, and business/industry are stressed. Additional topics may include Chi-square goodness of fit test, tests for independence, and testing the significance of the linear regression model.
