COURSE DESCRIPTION
Focuses on contemporary art being created by a diverse population of American, as well as global artists. Emphasis will be placed on artists of African, Native American, Asian and Hispanic origin. Examines the ways that contemporary work situates itself in multiple global artistic traditions of aesthetics, politics, encounter, and transgression. Explores the subject using slides, lecture, discussion, films and visiting artists.
