COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: High School Biology or BIOL 100 or BIOL 101. Appropriate for science majors and non-majors, this course provides a general introduction to the nature and pathology of cancer with emphasis on the cellular, genetic, and molecular events that transform normal cells into cancer cells. Cancer etiology, staging, classification, detection and diagnostics, epidemiology, societal impact, risk assessment, and classical and emerging targeted therapeutics will be discussed.
