COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the materials and manufacturing processes with which the designer, technician, and engineer must be familiar. The course provides an overview of manufacturing processes including casting and molding, bulk deformation, and material removal processes. The engineering properties of ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallic materials are studied. Topics include metal structures and metallurgy; testing of engineering materials, and enhancement of material properties though heat treatment and other processes. Lab activities include the use of material testing equipment.
