Applied Health Specialist (Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Appointment: 12-month
Department: Academic Affairs
Employment Type: Temporary, part-time grant-funded. Position is contingent on annual grant renewal.
Location: Both Campuses
The Applied Health Specialist works with faculty and staff to support and guide students as they prepare for successful careers in healthcare. Multiple pathways and options lead to associate degrees, transfer for further studies at the bachelor's or graduate level, or short-term credentials leading directly to the healthcare workforce. Through primarily program planning and implementation, this position will include a dynamic mix of direct student interactions and creative administrative support.
REQUIREMENTS:
Collaborate with faculty and staff to:
- Develop and implement clear, robust educational pathways to careers in nursing, medicine, alcohol and substance abuse counseling, medical imaging/radiography, physical therapy, radiation therapy, respiratory therapy, chiropractic and more.
- Ensure holistic advising and comprehensive support for students.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies that advance specified measures of student success.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, professional associations, and community partners.
- Ensure that all activities align with educational, industry and accreditation standards.
- Enhance student learning experience in simulation labs, clinicals, internships, work-based learning activities, and classroom activities.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience in allied health education or administration.
- Experience with program development and implementation.
- Preferred experience in Higher Education.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in allied health education.
Working Conditions
- Typical campus environment with occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, and clinical site visits.
- May involve evening or weekend work to accommodate program needs and events.
COMPENSATION:
$30 per hour. This is a 12-month position.
Part time hours not to exceed 20 hours per week
