Childcare Program Director
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Childcare Program Director is an employee of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) of Cayuga Community College. The Director responsible for leadership and operation of Cayuga Community College’s Childcare Program. This includes direct supervision of the Childcare Center on Wall Street and indirect supervision of the School Age Program located on Cayuga Community College’s (CCC) Auburn Campus. The Director ensures a safe and educational environment for children while maintaining program mandates and standards. The Director has responsibility for all fiscal, legal, and programmatic aspects of the program.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Effectively lead and manage the Childcare Program
- Ensure compliance with all FSA policies, NYS licensing requirements, and OCFS requirements and obtain and renew licenses as necessary
- Develop and maintain working relationships with state licensing authorities and community contacts
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the Childcare Center staff and The School Age Director
- Facilitate and participate in training on appropriate practices, policies and procedures, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements
- Monitor and assess ongoing training needs
- Maintain accurate and up to date payroll records for staff
- Oversee scheduling of teachers and staff while maintaining OCFS ratios
- Prepare and administer the Childcare Program’s budget and ensure timely record keeping
- Review and analyze monthly financial reports to assess the budget and make revisions and amendments as necessary
- Oversee and monitor agreements for the purchasing of goods and services used to operate the Childcare Program
- Actively seek grant opportunities and write applications/proposals in collaboration with FSA and CCC staff
- Report incidents and infractions as necessary and work with the FSA and CCC leadership to implement action plans as necessary
- Assure remediation of any non-compliance and incorporate corrective measures
- Build relationships with parents/guardians and maintain an environment of open communication between staff and families
- Promptly respond to and resolve parent/guardian issues and concerns
- Ensure physical conditions provide a safe and healthy environment by complying with state, federal, and local health and safety requirements
- Attend Board of Directors meetings and provide regular updates as requested by the FSA
- All other duties and responsibilities as requested by the FSA and CCC leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential and one-year full-time teaching experience in a child daycare center or early childhood program required.
- Meet state criteria for childcare employment
- At least three years leadership and supervisory experience
- Experience in budget management required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of database entry, word processing and spreadsheets.
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national and state education standards and licensing requirements and procedures
- Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure

COMPENSATION:
$57,000-$65,000 depending on qualifications.
