SUNY Reconnect at Cayuga CC Creates Free Degree Pathways for Adult Students

Adults interested in earning their first collegiate diploma can now do so for free in select degree programs through SUNY Reconnect at Cayuga Community College.

Announced this spring by state and SUNY leaders, SUNY Reconnect provides financial assistance for adults ages 25 to 55 to earn their first collegiate degree at community colleges. Eligible degree programs will help students learn in-demand skills for careers in growing industries such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing.

More than one-third of Cayuga’s degree programs, including popular options like Health Sciences A.S. and Environmental Studies A.S., are available through SUNY Reconnect. Students can start enrolling now for the Fall 2025 semester.

“SUNY Reconnect is a fantastic pathway for adults to earn their first collegiate degree, and to have that degree align with significant career opportunities in our region. The financial assistance available through the new program makes this an even better time to earn your degree and resume or restart your career pursuits,” said Cayuga President Dr. Brian Durant.

SUNY Reconnect provides eligible students with financial assistance along with in-person and online learning options in degree programs that connect them with high-demand fields. The program covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies for eligible students after other forms of tuition assistance are applied.

The program is open to any adult within the ages of 25-55 who resides in New York and has not previously earned a collegiate degree. Students must apply for New York State Tuition Assistance (TAP) and aid through the New York State Dream Act (if applicable), and are encouraged to apply for federal financial aid as well.
