Student Financial Services Navigator

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

DEPARTMENT:      Student Financial Services

APPOINTMENT:     12 month, temporary-grant funded, 2-year grant, position contingent on annual grant renewal

REPORTS TO:         Director of Student Financial Services

LOCATION:             Auburn and Fulton. Travel to off campus locations will be required. 

The Student Financial Services Navigator is a member of an integrated college team providing support to students regarding their billing and financial aid. Occasional work evenings and weekends may be required.  

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide outreach and support to students and families including hands on financial aid application completion, in person meetings, phone and virtual appointments;
  • Provide student-centered services and cohort-specific interventions to assist students with understanding their bill, available aid, and outstanding balances.
  • Complete data entry and preliminary review of application for special programs (i.e., CPEP, EOP, ASAP. Veterans);
  • Develop and implement student workshops and programs providing information about student billing and financial aid;
  • Participate in college recruitment and community events as necessary (Financial Aid Nights, Open House, etc.)
  • Collect federal and state waiver applications. Complete preliminary review to see if any documentation is required and if the application is complete.  Contact students with incomplete applications.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on grant funded initiatives connected to student success.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associates degree with additional work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in student services area; knowledge of Financial Aid and/or billing a plus.
  • Strong organization, project management and facilitation skills;
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.
  • Certain assignments will require NYSDOCCS access to enter correctional facilities in which the College currently operates programming. Access approval is necessary through NYSDOCCS.

COMPENSATION:

$48,000 - $54,000 Annualy
