Full-Time Nursing Faculty (Temporary)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title of Position:  Full-Time Nursing Faculty (Temporary)

Appointment:  10-month Instructional Faculty

                         

Function of Position:

Full-time faculty member to coordinator, teach theory, lab and clinical components of a nursing course.  The position will teach at the Fulton campus two evenings per week and clinical every other weekend.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Teaching Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning within the nursing department’s mission, philosophy and conceptual framework
  • Implement student-centered learning activities to achieve learning outcomes

      in the classroom, lab and clinical

  • Evaluate student learning as evidenced by:
    • Exams
    • Nursing care plans
    • Assignments
    • Clinical summative rotation evaluation conferences
  • Select patient assignments for clinical experiences
  • Facilitate pre and post conferences
  • Provide appropriate student counseling
  • Coordinate student orientation to nursing course
  • Provide appropriate orientation to students for all technology/software
  • Monitor student compliance with departmental attendance policy
  • Provide supplementary workshops as necessary
  • Complete textbook requisitions
  • Monitor student compliance with department policies and procedures as identified in Nursing Student Handbook
  • Use Brightspace web-enhanced learning management system

 

  1. Departmental Responsibilities
  • Attend appropriate level meetings
  • Attend nursing departmental meetings
  • Attend nursing curriculum meetings
  • Attend annual Advisory Board meeting
  • Serve on nursing faculty search committee as necessary
  • Serve on nursing ad hoc meetings as necessary
  • Attend annual Professional Advancement Pinning Ceremony

 

  1. Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Compile Course Packets
  • Orient students to the course
  • Monitor student compliance with immunization and health requirements
  • Monitor student compliance with CPR certification
  • Send immunization, health and orientation records to clinical agencies
  • Send CPR certification records to clinical agencies
  • Develop clinical rotation schedule
  • Communicate clinical schedules with agency liaisons
  • Coordinate student compliance with agency orientations
  • Schedule clinical make-ups as necessary
  • Schedule clinical instructors
  • Chair level meetings
  • Monitor student progress in meeting course learning outcomes:
    • Complete Academic/Clinical Deficiency form as needed
    • Complete Course Progression form as needed
  • Provide remediation and re-testing of Dimensional Analysis
  • Implement evaluation procedures:
    • Student Evaluation of Clinical Agency
    • Student Evaluation of Clinical Instruction
    • Course Evaluations
    • Instructor Evaluation of Clinical Agency
  • Orient adjunct faculty
  • Supervise adjunct faculty
  • Mentor adjunct faculty
  • Submit to Director of Nursing each semester:
    • Student Class List
    • Copy of Course Packet
    • Copy of course grades

 

  1. Professional Responsibilities
  • Mentor adjunct faculty
  • Maintain current clinical competency at clinical agency
  • Maintain current CPR and health requirements
  • Pursue continuing education in area of expertise
  • Use evidence-based teaching practices
  • Facilitate learning within the framework of the National League for Nursing Core Competencies of Nurse Educators

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current New York State RN license
  • BSN
  • MSN or active progress in MSN program with defined near completion date
  • Current related clinical experience

DATE TO BE FILLED:

Fall 2024 hire.

COMPENSATION:

The 2024-2025 starting salary for rank of Assistant Professor is $74,077.
