EOP Supplemental Instruction Tutor

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

DEPARTMENT:      EOP 

APPOINTMENT:     Temporary, part-time grant-funded, summer 2024

LOCATION:             Dual Campus

Cayuga Community College is seeing an EOP Supplemental Instruction Tutor for summer 2024 to increase the success rates of students in various courses, through the provision of targeted practice, review of class material and increased engagement through small group study sessions. The EOP Supplemental Instruction Tutor will be assisting students with PSYCH 101 and Math workshops.

REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities:

  • SI Tutor will be expected to attend class sessions and prepare two hour-long review sessions each week, focusing on key skills and concepts from the course.
  • Incorporate study skills, techniques, and strategies related to the course material.
  • Work within the peer-tutoring model
  • Act as a model student.
  • Schedule and conduct two 50-minute study sessions each week for each component.
  • Prepare materials and plan each session.
  • Attend Summer Program Staff Meetings.
  • Distribute surveys.
  • Maintain regular contact with the course instructor of PSYCH 101.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree from accredited institution of higher learning, demonstrating mastery of PSCHY 101 and lower-level math skills/competencies.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, working with diverse populations of students from underserved communities.
  • Experience with lesson planning, course material design and incorporation of learning/study skills, techniques and strategies; informal/formal assessment that is culturally sensitive and responsive.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master degree from accredited institution of higher learning, demonstrating mastery of PSCHY 101 and lower-level math skills/competencies.

COMPENSATION:

Stipend- $2,812
